STELLA CAWS BSc MA (Landscape Design) CMLI MSGD

My background in design and life long passion for plants come together in my garden designs where I use space, form, colour and texture to create exiting and enjoyable outdoor spaces. I am qualified in garden design, environmental sciences and landscape architecture with over 20 years experience of designing and building beautiful gardens. Every client's needs and tastes are different and designing gardens uniquely suited to them and their properties is a challenge which I love.

As a partner in a landscaping company for 10 years, I gained invaluable experience of the practical aspects of landscaping and construction. I have designed gardens for Garden Organic and other prestigious clients. I won my first Gold Award at the Ebbw Vale Garden Festival. Since then I have won ten Royal Horticultural Society medals including Gold and Best in Show.

I am a Registered member of the Society of Garden Designers and a former Council Member and Chair of the Adjudication Panel. I am also a chartered member of the Landscape Institute.

RUTH CHIVERS BA MSGD Freelance writer & designer

Taming the neglected garden Ruth acquired developed into a passion for plants and gardens. Studying to become a garden designer combined an enduring interest in good design of all types with a love of plants and gardens.

Ruth has designed gardens in the UK and abroad since 1992. For 6 years she lived in northern California, where she worked as a garden designer, writer and lecturer. She is a Registered member of the Society of Garden Designers (MSGD), a Certified member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD), and a member of the Garden Media Guild (GMG).

An RHS medal winner, her design work has ranged from show and theme gardens open to the public, to small gardens for brand new houses, to family gardens of all sizes in both the USA and UK. Other clients looking for ideas and inspiration to revive mature or neglected gardens have also found solutions from her consultations and reports.

Ruth is also a writer and has written articles about garden design for consumer gardening magazines as well as books, either as author or co-author. Topics include Small Gardens, Clematis and Meadows.
